Range of Services
The BCA aims to support patients and cooperating doctors in terms of Lyme Disease, Co-infections and other certain chronic Multi System Illnesses (including Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Morgellons Disease). The BCA offers a wide spectrum of services and in terms of medical services cooperates with doctors and hospitals (on a regional, national and international level).
Generally, there should be a differentiation between the following services.
- Diagnosis of Lyme disease and possible co-infections (depending on the stage, i.e. acute or chronic stages of the illness) - incl. special laboratory testing in the BCA laboratory: this is to make sure that the patient has Lyme disease or co-infections.
- Treatment of the Lyme disease in acute stages (i.e. right after the tick bite)
- Treatment of the Lyme disease in chronic progression (especially in stages of severe progression of the disease)
- Treatment of co-infections
- Pain therapy of the Lyme disease in stage II and for chronic progressions
- Mental strengthening and medical health coaching
Similar services offers also apply to certain Multi System Illnesses (such as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Morgellons Disease). Borrelia and other pathogens (bacteria and viruses) often trigger or enhance these diseases.
In terms of Lyme Disease patients are offered a complex diagnosis and therapy concept according to the guidelines of ILADS and the recommendations of the German Borreliosis Society. The BCA only treats out-patients. Unfortunately, we do not have the facilities to treat in-patients.
Note: The BCA does not provide any medical services! All medical services (diagnosis, therapies and medical therapy monitoring) are provided by the cooperating doctors of the „Medical Partnership“ and are invoiced to the patient on a private medical basis (according to the Medical Association’s professional code of conduct in Bavaria). The organisationally and economically independent medical partnership is has a tenancy in the Borreliose centrum Augsburg and treats patients there.
All other services (accompanying therapies, ambulant rehabilitation program "Intensive Treatment and Rehabilitation", as well as laboratory services) are offered by the B-C-A Borreliose Centrum Augsburg Betriebs GmbH & Co. KG, an independent business unit and will be billed by the BCA. The GmbH & Co. KG is the operator of this website.
Please note:
- Further information about the organisational structure of the BCA can be foud
here.http://www.b-c-bl.de/?id=107 - The treatment of Lyme disease is conducted according to the latest international therapy standards of the ILADS (International Lyme And Associated Diseases Society, USA,
www.ilads.org - version November 2006 & J.J. Burrascano October 2008) and the recommendations of the German Borreliosis Society e.V. (version April 2008 -
www.borreliose-gesellschaft.de)http://www.b-c-a.de/. Unfortunately, the current Germany opinion on Lyme disease does not recognise these standards yet. Further information about this can be found in the FAQs under Point 4 on this
link. - The diagnosis and therapy of Lyme disease infections clearly induce much higher costs and are more time consuming than many health insurance companies are willing to reimburse.
- The book "The Lyme Disease Solution" by Kenneth B. Singleton is very informative and clearly written.
- On the internet you can find plenty of information about Lyme disease (see some linkhttp://www.b-c-bl.de/?id=104s
here). These are only general information and do not replace a medical consultation. Please also contact your local patient support group.
Our range of services is also available to patients who are not living near Augsburg. The patients of the BCA – especially chronically ill patients – are coming from all over Germany, Switzerland and Austria, from Scandinavia, Italy and other countries in the EU, Russia as well as from North America, Asia and Australia. The employees of the BCA can assist you in German and English.
